The FH.05 Bench is inspired by an idea that comes from our studio name, Sløyd. The traditional Sløyd that was taught in the Scandinavian countries would teach boys and girls different subjects. The boys would work with wood - often with a local material like pine. The girls would work with soft goods like sewing or weaving. The FH.05 Bench is a bench inspired by the objects that were made in those Sløyd classes. The bench is minimal in its shape, created out of solid pine. The functional joinery mimics those of the teaching at the Sløyd school, using simple wooden plugs, The legs and seat are made from the same planed piece of wood making the construction easy and fast. Underneath we have created indents in the support beam to prevent warping of the wood.
